Morang, Dec 26: A two-day international Maithili Conference is taking place in Biratnagar, the capital of Koshi Province, today.Around 100 representatives of the Maithili language from Nepal, India, and other countries will participate in the event, which aims to conserve and promote the Maithili language, literature, and Mithila culture and civilisation.According to Praveen Narayan Chaudhary, chair of the organising Maithili Association, the conference will feature in-depth intellectual discussions, poets’ gatherings, cultural performances by the Mithila community, a book exhibition, an art exhibition, displays of Mithila cuisine, Vedic recitations, and presentations of traditional folk dances.Emphasising that language is the foundation of...
