East-West highway inoperative at Daunne today also
NAWALPARASI, Aug 15: The Nawalparasi Daunne section of the East-West highway which has been inoperative time and again since Friday has been again blocked since last night.
One-way traffic has resumed in the Nawalparasi section of the East-West highway, which was blocked since Sunday night after the road turned greasy following Sunday’s rainfall.
KAWASOTI, August 27: The vehicular movement along the East-West Highway in Nawalparasi East has been completed disrupted as a diversion near 23 Smriti in was swept away following a torrential rain.
Information Officer of District Police Office Madhusudan Singh said that the highway is fully disrupted since 9:00 last night.
The flood caused due to torrential rain has washed away the diversion developed in course of Narayanghat-Butwal road widening campaign.
Singh said that they were facing hardships to immediately resume the vehicular movement as rain has not stopped and the diversion was fully damaged.
Similarly, vehicular movement along the diversions at Gaindakot, Thumsi and Bhedabari has even become difficult.
Furthermore, a landslip has occurred in Daunne area of the highway. A team of police personnel has been mobilised to clear the debris in Daunne.
According to police, different areas including Kawasoti, Gaidakot, Devchuli, Madhayabindu, Hupsekot and others in Nawalpur are inundated following the torrential rain.
Information Officer Singh said that details of the losses caused due to flood, landslide and inundation have not arrived.
The government has started the upgradation of Narayangadh-Butwal section of East-West highway.
Narayangadh-Butwal section road will be expand to four lane except 12 KM that lies Daunne of Nawalparasi east and Nawalparasi West. Due to geographical structure of Daunne the 12 KM section will be expand as three lane only.
