DOLPA, Aug 15L Most of the schools in Upper Dolpa have been operating continuously since Baisakh even though educational institutions remain closed across the country. Most of the schools in Dolpo Buddha, Charkatangsong and Shey-Phoksundo villages of Upper Dolpa have started teaching and learning activities from the start of the new academic year. The new academic session starts in the month of Fagun in Upper Dolpa. According to local Pema Gurung, all the schools in Dolpo Buddha have started operating as usual since Baisakh. According to him, schools in Upper Dolpa were not closed even during last year's first wave of coronavirus pandemic. Last year, the exams were held on time. There are six schools in Dolpo Buddha. Some schools in Charkatangsong and Shey-Phoksundo are also operating. Spokesperson of Dolpo Buddha rural municipality Kyalpo Thapa Bhote said that the status of corona infection was normal and did not have much effect.  There are two academic sessions in Dolpa. Upper Dolpa has been established as an area with less contact with people from outside. People say that there is no problem with COVID-19 infection as the border point with neighboring China remains closed too.

Medical supplies sent to upper Dolpa through helicopter

JAJARKOT, June 7: Necessary medical supplies, including drugs were sent to Dolpa via helicopter on Sunday realizing the need of local residents.  Three rural municipalities of upper Dolpa had sought medical support after flu-like symptoms were detected among the local folks. Rastriya Samachar Samiti (RSS) had published news about an outbreak of fever and sneezing among the folks of Dolpobuddha, Chharkarangson and Shey-Foksundo rural municipalities.  After the outbreak of such symptoms, the three rural municipalities in a joint statement had sought medical support.  Janajati Development Center chairperson Kyalpo Thapa Bhote shared that 230-kg emergency medicines purchased with the assistance of Altitude Project, two sets of oxygen concentrators provided by the Department of Health through District Health Office and medical support received from HICAP were sent to the center of Shey-Foksundo rural municipality, Saldang.  Likewise, 800 sets of Hepatitis B vaccines received as a support from Dolpo Tulku Charitable Foundation and other medicines were sent to another center Dho Tarap.  Similarly, 100 each COVID antigen kits were also sent to two rural municipalities.

Former Minister Pahadi sends health supplies in Dolpa

JAJARKOT, May 25: Former Minister for Peace and Reconstruction Satya Pahadi has sent health materials including two sets of oxygen concentrators, 200 antigen kits, PPE and facemasks in Dolpa district to fight against COVID-19. The other health materials include oxygen regulators, 15 oxygen cylinders and medicines too.  However, oxygen plant has not been brought into operation for lack of technical human resources though the materials were airlifted in Dolpa.  With the oxygen concentrators in Dolpa itself, obligations to visit Nepalgunj for oxygen refilling has come to an end, Pahadi shared.    Dolpa-based journalist Bal Krishna Dangi said that the assistance received from Pahadi would be a great relief in fulfilling oxygen supplies for the patients in hospitals.
