Inclusive development possible with participation of indigenous women: Minister Shrestha
Kathmandu, Jan 18: Minister for Women, Children and Senior Citizens, Shradha Shrestha, ruled out the possibility of attaining inclusive and sustainable development without ensuring meaningful participation of indigenous women in parliament and policymaking level.Minister Shrestha delivered this notion while addressing the 25th anniversary of the National Indigenous Women's Federation Nepal in the federal capital on Sunday.She noted that gender inequality, social discrimination, limited economic opportunities and cultural exclusions were major challenges facing the women from ethnic communities. HoR election: EC makes public 3,213 proportional candidates in closed list
Kathmandu, Jan 18: The Election Commission has made public the closed list of 3,213 candidates, which the political parties submitted for the proportional category of the House of Representatives (HoR) election.The closed list was made public on Sunday.Spokesperson at EC, Narayan Prasad Bhattarai, informed that the closed list of proportional candidates was made public as per Section 25 of HoR Proportional Election Directive, 2082.The list has names (3,213) of the candidates submitted by 63 political parties with 57 election symbols.Anyone objecting to the qualification of any candidate in the proportional list can lodge the complaint from January 19 to 24.The...
