Squatters begin vacating Bagmati riverbank settlement following government ultimatum
Kathmandu. Following the government's ultimatum to remove the squatter settlement along the Bagmati riverbank, residents have begun moving their belongings. With preparations underway to deploy bulldozers on Saturday and Sunday, the government had issued an ultimatum for the settlement to be vacated by 7:00 PM today. Upon receiving the government's directive, police began making public announcements on Thursday evening. Squatters were instructed to vacate the settlement by Friday evening. With no signs of the government backing down, most squatters have started relocating their belongings.
